俺のブログ Ore no Burogu

I know this will be difficult for some people, but I just do not blog that much. So bear please with me (even with my Japanese-sounding Blogspot account title as well this blog's title which respectively translate into Samuel's Blog and My Blog).

Now you are going to ask what shall I write as a maiden voyage blog. Truth is, I know not. Whatever comes to mind, I hope y'all enjoy.

Okay, here's one: what I am thankful for seeing as the Thanksgiving holiday is upon us here in the United States of America. One thing for which I am thankful is my life. I would not be here on this Earth writing this if it weren't for having a life. Being alive for one score and one dozen years ain't so bad with so many blessings, trials and tribulations, and all that that I cannot begin to fathom.

I am thankful for family, specially a few new editions therein as of 2016. The minor editions I would say be maternal cousins' kids (two or three if I counted correctly) getting married. A marvelous edition would be another maternal cousin not only becoming a first-time grandparent, but becoming the grandparent of our late grandparents' first great-great-grandchild. Then almost a week later, that cousin's brother got himself a wife. Ain't marriage grand? Speaking more of marriage, my older and only brother got married; it will be six months already since then. Amongst us and our five stepsisters, I am the last one to find that special someone. One last edition added to my family was when our youngest stepsister gave birth to her second child a few weeks before my brother was married. 'Tis a blessing for me to be a step-uncle through the stepsisters' children, but I'm sure I'll be quite equally blessed in the future to be a blood uncle through my brother's children, an uncle through my future wife's siblings' children, as well as a father to my own children someday.

I am thankful for my country despite its imperfections in the government at times. At least it lets me have the right of worship, choose leaders and laws, etcetera. I can barely imagine living elsewhere that would deny me those. Even the military does their best to protect me from any potential invaders and terrorists.

Although I obtained no degree, I am thankful for my education that lets me learn basic and necessary stuff even if some subjects are my weak points while others are my strong points. I hope to pass some of this information down to the next generation or two or three. I cross my fingers to go back to school to really have a degree in some field of expertise that I am good at and use it as a career rather than a hobby to help make the world a better place.

Well, if that's all I can think of when it comes to my thankful things I am sure there will be more to come. And with that, I express my gratitude to each and every one of you for reading this blog. A theist or atheist, may God bless you all.
